Dr. Ton is a board certified psychiatrist and holistic doctor who believes in treating the root of the problem.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, Dr. Ton’s educational journey has been diverse, spanning coast to coast. Beginning in 2004, he earned an associate’s degree before obtaining bachelor’s degrees in Molecular and Microbiology while volunteering at a local hospital. Despite receiving scholarships from Ivy League schools like Cornell and Brown University, he prioritized his family commitments. Dr. Ton completed his psychiatric residency in Florida through USF’s Morsani College of Medicine affiliated hospitals, furthering his education in the treatment of psychiatric patients during the peripartum period. Physicians, including those from Tampa General Hospital (TGH), often refer patients from this specific population to Dr. Ton. He also gained experience in Forensic Psychiatry through rotations at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville and Jacksonville, along with a background in Family Medicine from Georgia, where he trained for six years.
Dr. Ton’s personal beliefs center on compassion, excellence, and community service. He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and is registered with the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology. Actively involved in his community, he volunteers as medical staff for events such as the Special Olympics and local school sports events. With a passion for animals, he aspires to establish an animal sanctuary to rescue animals from areas affected by natural disasters. Additionally, Dr. Ton enjoys teaching and holds teaching positions at multiple institutions, including Emory University and the University of Central Florida. He participates in research trials for emerging mental health treatments, such as the recent 331-201-00080 trial.
In 2020, Dr. Ton founded Evolve Behavioral Medicine, aiming to practice medicine and psychiatry in alignment with his ethical principles, free from corporate influence. Joining Tampa Neuropsychiatry in 2021, alongside Dr. Faizi Ahmed, they provide top-tier neurological and psychiatric care to local communities. After establishing a BayCare-associated Neuropsychiatry and TMS Clinic in the St. Petersburg community, Dr. Ton transitioned full-time into his private practice, Evolve Behavioral Medicine. He considers his ability to adhere to ethical principles while delivering excellent care as one of his greatest achievements.
